New Hyde Park is a village that is home in North Hempstead and Hempstead bordered on the east by Garden City, on the west by Floral Park, on the north by North New Hyde Park, and on the south by Stewart Manor. The area was settled in 1624 by English and Dutch settlers known as Hyde Park, named for Anne Hyde who was the wife of Lieutenant Governor George Clark. This area is one of the oldest settlements in America which became incorporated in 1927. During the 30’s, the economy here boomed with farmers selling their land to developers that cut the 450 acres into property developments.
The community is served by a group of school districts including Herricks Union Free School District, New Hyde Park-Garden City Park School District, School District, Elmont School District, and Sewanhaka Central High. The area is home to mainly residential areas but also restaurants, shops, warehouses, hotels and factories.
The most popular attractions in the area are recreational parks as well as historical landmarks of industries.
